BATU HOTEL GREEN ROOF
Batu, Indonesia | Hospitality
Located at the base of the Batu Mountains, this 55,000-square-meter hotel and conference center integrates architecture and landscape within its urban context. Two hotel towers are connected by a green roof over the conference ballroom, transforming a typically overlooked space into a visible and functional extension of the hotel and gardens.
Arrival begins at ground level and moves along a grand stair and winding granite path through native vegetation, water features, and sculptural elements, guiding visitors to a chapel that emerges naturally from the landscape while providing views of the mountains and surrounding city.
The garden is organized as a series of outdoor rooms with distinct character. Reflective pools provide quiet retreats, shaded seating encourages social interaction, and an open lawn accommodates larger gatherings. Positioned at the edge of the garden, the chapel serves as both a sculptural focal point and the highlight of the garden.
The design leverages natural landforms, plantings, and pathways to shape the visitor experience and reinforce connections between the buildings, the site, and the surrounding urban fabric.
