The Sawmill District in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has long been neglected, leaving 400 acres of prime Rio Grande River Valley real estate underutilized. This revitalization project aims to transform the area into a vibrant regional destination that blends identity, ecology, and economic prosperity.
Currently marked by post-industrial waste, the district disrupts the urban landscape. By integrating green infrastructure and water-harvesting techniques, such as wicking permaculture and native Bosque depressions, the project will restore the site’s ecological integrity. At the same time, it will foster social and economic growth, creating a dynamic and sustainable hub for the community.
