TX ARCHERY
North Texas | Sports & Recreation
This North Texas archery campus has reached building capacity and faces limited access due to unpaved roads and severe creek erosion. The expansion elevates the site to Olympic training caliber with a new indoor facility and essential infrastructure improvements.
Existing dirt parking areas are regraded and paved, directing water through bioswales that slow runoff and reduce erosion during heavy rains. A network of trails separates UTVs from pedestrians and motor vehicles, while paved pathways guide members safely through parking, landscape, and trail networks to the indoor practice and tournament facility. The south-facing facade screens the parking lot and southern sun, while the building opens to the north toward the forest with floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a sense of wilderness escape.
A proposed bridge replaces a river crossing previously limited to off-road vehicles, unlocking the north property and providing access to a new tournament pavilion designed to host major events and expand athlete capacity.
Though the interventions are subtle, their impact is significant, demonstrating how site design and landscape can function as an integrated system to manage erosion, support growth, and broaden community outreach for the sport of archery.
