URBANBNB
Abilene, Texas | Residential
Located near downtown Abilene, this modern residence combines contemporary design with the character of its quiet neighborhood while reflecting an urban sensibility. The project establishes a thoughtful standard for single-family homes by creating a landscape that engages the street and community while preserving privacy.
In addition to the main residence, two small apartments at the rear of the property, accessed via the alley, contribute to a shared outdoor space rather than a secluded backyard. Designed for both residents and tenants, this visible area encourages social interaction and connection.
The front yard incorporates a series of rain gardens that capture stormwater from the house and street. Planted with native species that attract pollinators, the gardens include interpretive signage that highlights water harvesting and ecological stewardship. A family tree at the entrance marks the home’s completion and signifies the family’s connection to the community.
