LIBRARY PARK
Roswell, New Mexico | Civic
Library Park is an unrealized design vision for a vibrant community space adjacent to the public library in Roswell. This park would activate the surrounding area, creating a dynamic venue for local businesses and community members. It’s envisioned as a place for pop-up markets, small concerts, and private events, all while fostering a sense of connection and community.
At the heart of the park is a shade structure, designed to offer relief from the intense daytime heat and create a soft halo effect at night, subtly illuminating the space. Below the structure, a multi-functional kiosk serves as both a food and beverage stand and a versatile venue for pop-up galleries or retail spaces.
Library Park also functions as a pedestrian link between N Richardson Avenue and the library. Throughout the space, several little libraries will be installed, offering books donated by both the library and the local community. This design creates a unique blend of gathering, learning, and cultural exchange, bringing together people of all ages in a shared public space.
